Tim Griffin
General Manager
Tim is the General Manager of Aotea Electric Marlborough loves a coffee first thing and last thing at night, with a bit of an obsession with Rubic Cubes. Coming from a Mechanical engineering and business background, Tim has spent most of his life working for Oil companies worldwide.
A typical day at AEM involves working with an amazing team assisting the divisional managers, managing accounts, strategic planning, and growth, with a constant search on the horizon for innovation and sustainable opportunities to incorporate into the day-to-day business.
Tim moved to Blenheim in 2019, enjoying the weather, Mountain biking and the serenity of the great Marlborough Sounds.
You’ll find Tim taking time out enjoying Reformer Pilates, Time with the Family and Little Tilly (family staffy).
Matt Ker
Estimator
Matt is our Servicing Manager at Aotea Electric Marlborough joining the team over four years ago, his day normally includes residential, industrial and commercial servicing quotes, scheduling of workloads across the division’s team along with most importantly; managing customer relationships.
Matt has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the electrical trade, he has over 18 years of experience in the electrical industry, both in sales as well as an electrician, so knows the business front to back.
He considers himself a newbie to Marlborough, moving here 19 years ago and thinks the weather is awesome, the people are great and there is so much to do. He has recently started his hand at golf and you might find him discovering local walking tracks on the weekends.

Chris Young
Contracts Manager
Chris started at Aotea Electric Marlborough in 2018 and is our Contracts Manager, his busy day normally includes liaising with customers, providing quotes and tenders for Commercial electrical projects, not to mention booking in jobs that make the cut with the Aotea Marlborough team.
Chris is a qualified electrician with over 13 years in the trade, starting his electrical apprenticeship in Dunedin after completing school. Chris and his wife Jodie, made the move north to Blenheim from Dunedin in 2012, where Chris originally worked for Laser Electrical in Blenheim, making the shift to the Aotea Electric Marlborough team in 2018.
In his spare time, you might find him fishing or playing football or squash with mates. He loves the warmer weather of Marlborough and thinks the people are pretty awesome.

Kevin Wyngaard
HVAC/ Solar Manager
Kevin’s our super organised and approachable HVAC. He makes sure the team is kept busy with jobs, visits clients daily and assists with project quoting. Kevin has been in the electrical industry for over 15 years, originally completing a four-year apprenticeship, and joined the Aotea Electric Marlborough team in 2019.
Kevin and his family made the move down south, from Auckland to Blenheim almost three years ago, to get away from the busy Auckland traffic and to what he considers, a pretty beautiful part of New Zealand.
On the weekend you might find Kevin out fishing in the Marlborough Sounds, socialising with friends or hanging out with his family.

Jeremy Ham
Service Manager
Jeremy is Aotea Electric Marlborough’s Servicing Manager, and our data, fire and tech expert, and the self-proclaimed geek of the company; because he can fix just about anything!
He’s also a geek for classic BMW cars; having owned a 1986 E30 since he was 19 years old. His other interests include Crossfit, tramping and craft beer. He’s also a Marlburian born and bred, loves living here for the climate, the size, the people and the activities here, “it’s got it all!” he reckons.
Joining us in 2016, Jeremy brought with him over 10 years experience in the industry. His expertise and passion within the electrician industry lies with data and network solutions. He also works on fire prevention systems, electrical installations, quotes for fibre and structured network cabling, as well as WiFi solutions.
Jeremy is a fantastic asset to the Aotea Electric Marlborough team, having studied at Canterbury University towards both a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts, he offers experience with telephone systems, network cabling sales and installations.

Matt Batterson
Contracts Supervisor
Matt’s role is to ensure the smooth operation of staff management, job allocation, scheduling, client liaisons, estimating, and site supervision.
Matt’s career began on an idyllic Australian island, where he was an Audio Visual Technician. From there, his path took him deep underground as a worker in a coal mine before transitioning to construction rigging within the mining sector. Matt joined Aotea Electric Marlborough in August 2023, bringing with him a decade of experience in the industry.
When he’s not at work, Matt’s life revolves around his two children and his love for boating, fishing and the outdoors. He also finds joy in woodworking, home renovations, and mountain biking. His passion for self-development is evident in his curiosity for neuroscience and psychology, which he explores through books, podcasts, and documentaries. This thirst for knowledge not only enriches his understanding of the world and people around him but also enhances his professional interactions and personal growth.
