Community
At Aotea Electric Marlborough, we are committed to building strong connections within the Blenheim and Marlborough communities. It goes beyond providing top-notch electrical services; we actively support and engage in community initiatives that make a difference. An example of our community involvement is our support of Marlborough Boys College Rugby we also provide electrical services to various organisations in Marlborough, ensuring they have the resources required to thrive.
We employ local people and purchase from local businesses wherever possible. As long standing members of the Marlborough community it is important for us to give back, share our expertise and work with a sustainable and ethical ethos.
We are proud to give back and be part of such a supportive and beautiful community.
Electrifying Health Helpers
Aotea Electric Marlborough has had the privilege of contributing to a game-changing project for the Marlborough Community Vehicle Trust. The Trust provides transport for local residents to vital medical appointments in their newly donated Hyundai Kona EV (Nice one, Marlborough Lines and Mayfield Motorworld).
Marlborough District Council, local MP Stuart Smith, local businesses, and Te Whatu Ora have set up a dedicated car park and charging point at Wairau Hospital for the Trust. We worked with the ThunderGrid team to supply and set up the charging point and the connection. Te Whatu Ora confirmed that it will provide free power for the next five years, ensuring the Trust can focus on what it does best—supporting the community. Job done
Marlborough Girls Rowing
Aotea Electric Marlborough are proud supporters of the marlbourgh Girls Rowing ‘One Tonne Club’. Rowing is an engaging and thrilling water sport where you can get your fitness up to its peak, meet lifelong friends and learn skills both physically on the water and mentally.
In Marlborough, we are lucky to have the wonderful Wairau river which the Wairau and Blenheim clubs regularly row on during the rowing season.
We love supporting our community.
Supporting Schools Sports
At Aotea Electric Marlborough we believe that sports are more than just games—they are essential for the healthy development of young children. In an era where screens often dominate attention, we are dedicated to getting kids off their devices and back into the real world, where they can experience the joys of physical activity, teamwork, and face-to-face interactions.
By funding sports programs for young children, we are helping to build a foundation for lifelong health and well-being. These activities encourage kids to be active, which not only benefits their physical health but also supports their mental and emotional development. Sports provide a structured environment where children can learn to set goals, work hard, and overcome challenges. These are critical life skills that will serve them well in all aspects of their lives.
Moreover, our initiatives are about more than just fitness—they’re about community. In our sports programs, children have the opportunity to build new relationships and expand their social circles. Playing on a team teaches them the value of cooperation, communication, and trust. These interactions help develop social skills that are crucial for forming strong, positive relationships throughout their lives.
We’re proud to support programs that allow children to grow, learn, and thrive in a supportive, active environment. Our mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate in sports, to experience the joy of teamwork, and to develop the social and physical skills that will benefit them for years to come.
Boys College Junior Rugby
Aotea Marlborough have been proud sponsors the last 6 seasons for the Marlborough Boys College Junior Rugby Falcons Teams. This involves the 2x Under 14 Teams and 2x U15 Teams.
They play in the Tasman comp, so are competing against the Nelson Clubs and schools over the hill. Some tough battles most weekends with some years MBC coming out on top or old rivals Nelson College.
It has been great watching some of these lads come through the grades
to make the MBC 1 st XV Team and a few boys going onto higher honours representing Canterbury School Region U20s, Tasman U19s, Tasman
Development and Tasman Mako.
We look forward to supporting these boys again next season.
